BMW Ghost Immobiliser
The Ghost utilizes the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or adding a new lock to bypass the security system.
The Ghost is unlike other immobilisers in that it doesn't rely on key fobs or LED indicators. It relies on the buttons of your vehicle to let you access to a unique disarming sequence that you only know.
Stop & Start
If you've ever driven a new BMW or utilized the stop start feature then you may have noticed that after stopping the engine will continue to be running for approximately 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to watch the vehicle for signals that comes from the ignition key. When it detects this, the vehicle will continue to operate. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car every time you push a button sequence.
Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a unique next-generation device that does not require cutting OEM wires or adding an aftermarket alarms and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with a unique PIN code which is accessed by buttons in your car. This lets you enter an exact key-push sequence that is not available in the usual media menus, such as volume up/down and cruise control, source or air conditioning on that prevents your car from starting unless this is entered. The PIN can range between 4 and 20 digits, so it is extremely difficult for thieves to guess or break.
We can also include the service/valet mode. This is activated while your car is being serviced so that the Ghost is hidden from the garage. This can be accomplished by pressing the service button on your infotainment system five times (the system will flash to confirm this) and then when you return the Ghost will automatically arm again.

Service / Valet Mode
The Ghost is the most effective immobiliser on the market. It stops your vehicle from being stolen through key cloning or hacking. It works by using the vehicles factory buttons to create an individual sequence of pushes which only you can recognize, similar to like the pin code security on your mobile phone. It's discreet, incredibly effective and deters even the most obstinate thieves!
If you're parked at your home or in a meeting and greet situation when you are at a meet and greet, the Ghost can be set to service mode. This lets you start the car using your keys but prevents the engine from starting again until the correct code is entered. This is ideal for those who need to turn their cars over to valet businesses or other trusted friends and family members. This allows you to take your car to the garage for servicing, etc. without fearing about it being tampered with by mechanics while you are waiting.
When the service or valet mode is activated, it will block your BMW from being able to drive when it is first started. This stops anyone from test driving while you are away. When you return, it will revert back to normal, preventing your vehicle from being tampered with or stolen once again.
The Ghost can be fitted to any BMW. All you need are the correct keys because the device does not utilize the original remotes, but can be used in conjunction with them. If you don't want to use a mobile device or are not at ease with it, we can supply an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to turn off the Ghost. This is an extra cost and requires an additional Bluetooth pairing.
Anti-Hijack
Ghost developed this discreet device that is unobtrusive and helps in battling the increasing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It is designed to stop thieves from adding keys or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost connects to your CAN data network and uses the buttons in your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console, as well as door panels) to create an individual push sequence that must be completed before the engine can be started.
This will activate the anti-hijack function and, once it is activated, any attempt to start the engine will be immediately blocked. When the system determines that the vehicle is no longer moving, it will honk the horn and flash the indicators. If it is not able to identify the correct code it will also stall the engine (where it is). The Anti-Hijack feature can be cancelled by entering your push sequence or by entering service mode which allows your car to temporarily begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.
If you have a GPS device linked up to your BMW it is possible to use it to cancel the Anti-Hijack feature so you can still use the navigation system in your car when the vehicle is parked unsupervised. Remote Control
We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile app for remote control of keyless go and start functionality. This can be useful when a valet or mechanic has to start your car but you have to be somewhere other where. The system lets you start your car by selecting drive, then leave the service mode without the need to use your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle on an interactive map on your smartphone.
The Ghost can be fitted under the dashboard or within the centre console, it is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personal PIN code is embedded into it. The pin code needs to be chosen before the engine starts. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU in order to disable this system.
If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will enter a security mode that disables all functions until the PIN code is entered, or you can utilize the mobile app to disarm it. This feature was created to safeguard your vehicle from high-tech thieves who are now utilising relay boxes to steal your vehicle. This will prevent thieves from using their mobile phones to turn on your sat-navs or mp3 players to locate your vehicle!
Ghost also can stop the 'Relay Style Frequency Amplifier'. This is the most typical way a car is being stolen using a key fob that has been cloned or stolen via hacking. Ghost enables you to prevent this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle that is called Secure-A Key. The device is installed in the key fob of your car and disconnects its battery after a few inactive minutes. This can be done with the majority of modern PKE keys.
